NIT, National Institute of Technology is located in Warangal and is a famous name in the area of technical education in India.
This institute started in 1959 as a Regional Engineering College, Warangal and was know as (RECW). This was then inaugurated by Pt Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.
This institute was earlier affiliated to the Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University. In the year 1976, this college acquired its affiliation from Kakatiya University.
Eventually in 2002, this Warangal University, National Institute of Technology was accorded the Deemed University status and was renamed as NIT, Warangal.
Courses
National institute of technology offers undergraduate courses in various fields of engineering namely civil, mechanical, and chemical, computer science, metallurgical, materials, and many more.
The post graduate courses here include engineering fields namely, water resources, transportation, engineering structures, geo-technical, environmental, and more.
They also cover electrical courses in power systems engineering, industrial drives and electrical machines. Mechanical courses offer design and production in machine tools, computer integrated manufacturing, design as well as production of IC engines and gas turbines.
M.Sc courses include applied mathematics, engineering physics, scientific computing, industrial chemistry comprising of dyes, pharmaceuticals, drugs, pesticides and chemical analysis modern methods.
Masters in business administration and computer application courses are also offered, besides doctorate courses in engineering, humanities, sciences and physical education.
Eligibility
Students cleared 12th exams are considered to be eligible with compulsory subjects as physics, mathematics and either chemistry, computer science, biology or biotechnology as an optional subject.
Post graduate admission seeking students should have cleared B.Tech or B.E from any of the recognized institution or university and should have secured 60% minimum marks as aggregate, while the physically challenged and SC or ST candidates are expected with 55% marks as aggregate.
Likewise, the MSc course also is eligible with a B.Sc degree with first class; MCA also is eligible with degree having 60% marks with subject’s mathematics or business mathematics or statistics.
Candidates looking for MBA are expected to have scored a first class to be eligible with any specialization as well. Doctorate admission is eligible for students scoring 60% marks in their degree in the relevant fields. |
