History
Osmania University was established in 1918 by Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan, the 7th Hyderabad state Nizam. It is the third oldest in the entire southern India, as well as the first to be to be referred to as the erstwhile princely Hyderabad State and the seventh oldest educational institution offering higher learning courses in India.

Facilities
The facilities offered in this university include hostel accommodation to all the outstation students. At present there are 14 hostels within the University campus. However, the engineering students are facilitated with an accommodation with individual hostel adjacent to the College of Engineering.
There are two hostels that are earmarked for girls. There is a Health Centre that is provided to give free medical treatment to all its students, staff as well as their families. This University also has a state bank of Hyderabad branch and a post office within the campus to facilitate the students and its staff. |
