History
RGU was earlier known as Arunachal University and its foundation stone was laid by late Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister. In 2005, it was renamed as Rajiv Gandhi University and was declared by the Act of Parliament as a central university in 2007.
Educational Streams
Rajiv Gandhi University offers programs in undergraduate, post graduate as well as doctorate programs through departments that are within the campus as well as affiliated colleges. The courses offered here are designed to play an optimistic role in the socio-economic as well as cultural development of the State.
The department members are engaged in research activities offering financial support from UGC as well as other funding agencies. This university also provides diploma program in medical science.
