Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is a premier engineering institute of this country, India.
IIT Guwahati was founded in the year 1994 as the sixth member of the fraternity IIT. This institute commenced academic programs in the year 1995.
The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has offered the impetus that is much-needed to technical education in India, the northeastern region.
IIT Guwahati campus covers over an area of 285 hectares on the river Brahmaputra north banks. This institute has earned lots of accolades, nationally as well as internationally within a short period of time.
At present, IIT Guwahati comprises of 11 departments that includes the entire key engineering as well as science disciplines. Officially, the Government of India has declared Guwahati IIT as the institution of National significance.
Courses
The undergraduate courses include biotechnology, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electronics and communication engineering, chemical science and technology, engineering physics, mechanical engineering, mathematics and computing, and many more areas of engineering.
The post graduate courses includes engineering offered in M Tech or ME or Post Graduate or PG in chemical, civil, computer science, mechanical, electronic and communication.
M.Sc courses are chemistry, mathematics, computing and physics, while the doctorate courses includes chemistry, computer science, civil engineering, biotechnology, energy, mathematics, humanities, social sciences, design, nanotechnology and physics.
Eligibility
Candidates passed 10 + 2 exams from a recognized board are eligible for undergraduate courses. The post graduate courses candidates are eligible on acquiring a graduation from a recognized institution. M.Sc courses are offered to eligible graduates from the respective field. Doctorate aspirants should have bachelors or masters degree.
Admission Procedure
The admission for undergraduate program includes passing the JEE exam. The post graduate courses are based on the GATE scores of the candidates. M.Sc admission is on the basis of Joint admission tests. Doctorate courses admission is also based on the entrance exams.
