Before Guwahati, Bihar has been the one considered as the center of learning. It was the home of India’s oldest universities such as Nalanda way back in the fifth century.
However, unfortunately, during the medieval period, the tradition of learning has been lost.
According to history, invader armies have destroyed "these" centers of learning and anything that relates to it.
However, such as catastrophe did not prevent them from reviving what they had, their only treasure – education.
That is why education in Bihar is being re-awakened. The education in Bihar was revived during the later part of the British rule as they have established many universities.
Unfortunately, they have been lost as well in the event of the post independence period. This is the time when the politicians of Bihar have lost their race and in fight of the education in Bihar.
Today, Bihar is still struggling to regain what they have lost. However, there are inadequate educational infrastructures that have caused to slow down their plans.
Admiringly, although Bihar is in a crisis, still they had produced many scholars. Recently, a survey released by Pratham stating that Bihar children are far better when it comes to learning absorption compare to those in the other states.
Modern Bihar is still a spectacular place of learning. Today, the state has an extensive line of schools and well recognized universities, which includes the Magadh University, Jaiprakash University, Nalanda Open University, Patna University and more. Other than that, there are also newly established institutes such as the Indian Institute of Technology Patna, which was built, last 2008.
There were also private schools like R.P Sharma Institute of Technology and the Millia Insitute of Technology. Plus, there are also fashion and art schools like the College of Arts and Crafts.
This is the reason why there are many foreign students enrolled in this part of the country. The quality of education in Bihar manifests not only on the schools but also on the remarkable performance of their students who are now joining international school competitions. |
