Bihar is a state that belongs to the Indian Territory. All in all, the state has 38 districts and its capital is the largest city, which is Patna.
Hindi is the major language here, though there are also other people who speak English, Urdu, Magadhi, Bhojpuri and Maithili. This is also the state where the pacifist religion, Buddhism was born.
Bihar has actually one of the chief learning centers in the world. It is home to the ancient Nalanda University as well as the Vikramshila University. However, unfortunate things happened in the state after Buddha’s reign.
Invading armies have destroyed several institutions for education during the medieval times. The schools in Bihar were nothing but remains at that period.
Bihar struggled to revive its education system and was almost successful especially during the British rule in the state. At this time, they were able to put up the seventh oldest university in Indian, which is the Patna University.
The Patna College, Bihar School of Engineering, Prince of Wales Medical College and the Science College in Patna were also established. Nevertheless, the state lost the battle in regaining its title as the foremost education center in India after its independence.
The inadequate number of schools in Bihar is one of the main problems that enthusiastic learners have to face. Due to this unlucky situation, many citizens were forced to migrate to other countries. Students from Bihar moved to Karnataka and New Delhi to seek higher education and reach their aspirations.
In the year 2001, Bihar has the lowest literacy rate in India, gaining only 47.53%. In the end, however, the government has applauded the dedication of the students of the state for doing well. Because of this, the superiors have decided to build more schools in Bihar. New education institutions were built in the year 2006 up to 2008.
Among them were BIT Mesra, IIT of India, National Institute of Fashion Technology, Chanakya National Law University and the ChAndhragupt Institute of Management, which was the last to be completed.
At present, there are four residential schools in Bihar. These schools were established in order to provide good education as well as assuring the parents that their child is in safe hands. These four are the Vikas Vidyalaya, Gems English School, Vidya Vihar Residential School and the RPS Residential Public School.
There are around 71, 832 schools in Bihar, ranging from primary, elementary to senior secondary schools. The history of learning in the state is an example of perseverance and commitment in the education. |
