Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya is the oldest Indian universities. It is sited in the Rajnandgaon District at Khairagarh.
This was founded in the year 1956 in the aim of providing education in music and arts.
Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya is as well a member of AIU, the Association of Indian Universities.
It has many affiliated colleges such that some of them are even located outside the state.
However, all the courses are approved by UGC, the University Grants Commission. It is the oldest institutions in Chhattisgarh that is producing many celebrities in the Indian Classical Dance and Music. This institution keeps priceless and the oldest classical recitals with utmost care in the listening room.

Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya is a university offering courses from the certificate to graduate level, postgraduate as well as research. M Phil is provided in Instrumental, Vocal Music, Tabla & Dance, while Vocal Music is also granted formally. PhD as well as DLit is offered in various branches of Dance, Music, Visual Arts, Arts and Folk Music.
Students are offered different courses in Music as well as Dance and are given opportunity to exhibit their talents on the stage.
