It is named after the Late Sri Kushabhau Thakre. The University was established according to the Government of Chhattisgarh Vide Act24 in the year 2004.

Educational Streams
Kushabhau Thakre Patrakarita Avam Jansanchar University offers professional courses in the field of Advertising, Electronic Media, Public Relations, Mass Communication and Journalism. PG programs are open to candidates who secure 45% marks.
ST/SC candidates are provided with some relaxation in terms of their eligibility and age. The undergraduate courses in the field of Journalism and Mass Communication are offered to students who have their Higher Secondary Examinations of any recognized board.
