Delhi or Dilli is a city in the Indian peninsula. With over 11 million inhabitants, this is considered as the second largest city in the country.
Because of its lovely landscapes and picturesque scenery, the city has been a major tourist destination during vacation. Oftentimes, these tourists eventually migrate to Delhi, thus turning it into a cosmopolitan city.
Delhi is considered as the center for cultural, political and commercial center in India. In addition, the city is dubbed as one of the fastest growing cities.
Hinduism is the chief religion in the city and is home to Asia Pacific’s largest mosque, which is the Jama Masjid. Delhi enjoys a continental climate with summer and winter seasons.
There are also other festivals being celebrated in the city including the festival of lights or Diwali, Mahavir Jayanti, Durga Puja, Lohri, Holi and Guru Nanak’s Birthday. These colorful festivals repeatedly amaze the locals as well as travelers. The literacy rate of the city is generally high, with 81.82% in the year 2001.
The government, Directorate of Education or private societies manage several schools in Delhi including 2, 515 primary, 635 elementary, 504 secondary and 1, 208 senior schools.

Aside from being exquisitely constructed, they offer nothing but the best in educational systems, which can incautiously be compared to the standards of education in other international countries.

Most the schools in Delhi use the English language in teaching students; only few institutions use Hindi in imparting knowledge. There are also plenty of famous schools in the city. The long list includes St. Mary’s School, The Mother’s International School, St. Columbia’s School, Saraswati Bal Mandir and Raisina Bengali Senior Secondary School.
These schools in Delhi are popular because of their dedication to education and their ability to produce skilled graduates in different fields of studies. Recently, a survey was conducted in the year 2008 and it revealed that 16% of the city’s residents have graduated with a college degree.
