Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was founded by the Government of India in 1963 to help the country to professionalize the foreign trade management.
It was an autonomous organization and this was done with the aim to increase exports by generating, disseminating data, analyzing, developing human resources and conducting research.
This institute offers new ideas, entertains talents, skills and concepts of the Indian economy.
Infrastructure
Indian Institute of Foreign trade has two campuses Delhi and Kolkata. The Delhi campus is sited in the close vicinity of the Nehru University as well as the IIT, Delhi.
It overlooks the green ridge and sprawls over six acres of land providing an apposite milieu for academic excellence. Kolkata Campus was initiated in 2006 July and it pursues various activities under the same set up.
Facilities
This university campus facility include air-conditioned lecture halls, indoor games, auditorium with a capacity of 500 seating, conference halls, MDP Centre, audio visual aids, computer centers and superb residential facilities.
Hostel facilities are separate for girls and each hostel room is featured with computer and internet connectivity. The management development program students are also facilitated with residential facilities.
Library Facilities
The library is well-equipped with nearly 84000 volumes and 800 journals to have a perfect online cataloguing. The IIFT library has authentic information and this storehouse is of great use to the students. It is also of great value for research scholars, besides this library has distinct collection of publications and international agencies. Apart from the main library, this institute is facilitated with a library cum reading room that works 24x7.
Computer Facilities
IIFT offers LAN with HP Servers, 300 Pentium nodes and wireless access. The software applications comprise Novell Netware, Windows XP, Oracle, Solaris, Windows 2000 Server, Java and Visual Basic.
The other facilities include access to databases, Plasma Screen, in-house publishing, around the clock internet with leased line of 3 MBPS. |
