Special Features
National Museum institute utilizes the infrastructure of the entire National Museum, its auditorium, laboratory, modeling section, workshops, library and photo section.
This institute runs M.A. and Ph.D. courses in the disciplines such as conservation as well as restoration of works of Art, history of art and Museology. These courses are integrated so a student can do his basic Museology course and then history of art and other conservation courses.
Foreign languages such as French, German, Japanese, Spanish, Greek and Chinese, or classical languages such as Tamil, Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian and Prakrit are mandatory to be learnt for M.A. as well as Ph.D. students.
German, French and Sanskrit classes are held between 1.30 to 2.30p.m in the institute itself. Apart from the theory classes, practical classes are also held.
Practical training to museums, academics, monuments and universities is well-arranged. The institute also holds regularly seminars, symposiums, special lectures and conferences in the relevant fields. However, English is the medium of instruction, but the students are permitted to submit their seminars, answer sheets, research papers in English or Hindi.
