Education in India

The history of education in India could be traced to institutions such as Nalanda. The struggle of the education in India is great with the primary education. In this stage, children learn to read and write the basic and the fundamental. With the rate of five out of ten students cannot read at a basic level, over 60% are unable to read and write or do a simple division.

Half of enrollees drops out by the time they reach the age of 14.

It is certainly a challenge for the educational institutions and for the government officials to act on the problem.

One among the ten young people has an access to tertiary education.

It can be noted however that there are prestigious schools present in the state.

Education in India for higher education is the third largest in the world.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development oversees all levels of education in India. The four stages of school education in India are as follows- primary, upper primary, secondary and senior secondary.

Primary school is for children who are 6- 11 years old. 11-15 year old are for upper primary and secondary schools. 16-17 year old are categorized to higher secondary school.

In the year 2008, it was estimated that there are over a million vocational training completed through Craft Training and Apprentice Training Schemes.

It reflects the nations’ effort in increasing the attendance in vocational high schools ad an attempt to raise the standard of Industrial Training Institutes.
