Sardar Patel University was the universities in Gujarat that volunteered in 2000 for accreditation and the NAAC responded with the four star status.
This university initially began as a rural University, but it has diversified with the aim of motto Excellence Matters.
It is well created by a distinct co-operative contribution from the rural area farmers who were stimulated by the image of Sardar Patel, Shri Bhikhabhai and Shri Bhaikaka.
Sardar Patel University was founded in 1955 and was known as Bhaikaka. Later on in the month of December 1955, the then Bombay Province instituted this University.
The current name SPU was given after the greatest independence leader as well as illustrious sons of India, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.
Facilities
This University offers basic facilities such as Library and is housed in a large magnificent building that has immense spacious reading rooms. The medical needs are taken care by the health center within the campus.
They take care of the families of non-teaching and teaching staff. The facilities also include information and guidance bureau that offers employment information in the aim of assisting the students looking for employment.
Apart from the basic facilities, this university promotes extra- curricular activities such as games, sports, national education program, youth campus diversity program, national service scheme, inter-university cultural festival and Inter-collegiate to encourage overall development in the students.
Free studentship awards are awarded to students in Master’s degree as they are not otherwise eligible for EBC free studentship, or scheduled tribes, scheduled caste as well as OBC scholarships.
