Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology is located in Surat and is a government engineering college offering numerous courses on various fields of Technology and Engineering.
This institution was earlier known as Sardar Vallabhbhai Regional Engineering College and was founded in the year 1961 in the association as joint venture of the Gujarat government and Government of India.
In 2002, this university in Surat acquired complete autonomy in its academics.
This was the reason that it was accorded the Deemed status by the government and was later on renamed as the National Institute of Technology.
Courses
The courses offered in Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology includes undergraduate courses in various engineering core areas namely, civil, mechanical, electronics, electrical, computer, production and chemical.
Post graduate courses include engineering namely, structural, environmental, turbo machines, electronics, water resources, chemical and electronics.
There are doctorate courses in various disciplines namely, computer, mechanical, applied chemistry, mathematics and physics, and many more areas.
Eligibility
The undergraduate students are considered to be eligible only after clearing their 10 + 2 exams with relevant subjects namely, mathematics, physics and chemistry and should have minimum 50% marks to secure admission in B Tech or B E courses.
Post Graduate admission is given to applicants securing marks to 60% in B.Tech or BE in the branch of engineering respectively. However, the SC or ST can apply, if they have secured 55% in these examinations.
Doctorate students must have cleared with 60 % in relevant disciplines in M.Tech or ME.
Procedure for admission
The procedure for admission for the undergraduate courses is based on the all India engineering exams or pharmacy or architecture entrance examination that is held by the CBSE.
Post Graduate admission is given on the basis of GATE scores.
