Shivaji University was founded in 1962 at Kolhapur by the then President of India, Dr. Radhakrishnan.
This university is scattered over Satara, Kolhapur, Solapur and Sangli districts.
This university has an affiliation of nearly 250 colleges and is accredited to be the B+ grade university by the National assessment & accreditation council.
The main objective of this university was to meet the needs of south Maharashtra.
