Central Agricultural University is located at Imphal and was instituted by the Government of India.

History
This university was instituted by an Act of Parliament. The Central Agricultural University was set in the year 1993 on 26th January, by the Department of Agricultural Research and Education. This university started commencing activities in education.

The Central Agricultural University provides diverse courses connected to the field of agriculture in the aim of fulfilling and employing the aid of science for the development of agriculture. This university offers courses in agriculture for undergraduate for 4 years duration, courses in postgraduate for 2 years duration in Plant Pathology, Agronomy, Horticulture, Soil Science, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Agricultural Chemistry and Entomology.
Activities in Research & extension are carried out at the College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry in Mizoram at Aizawl.
Besides these programs, this university offers B.Sc. & M.Sc Agriculture in Plant Pathology, Agronomy, Horticulture, Entomology, Plant Breeding & Genetics, Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry and many more programs related to fisheries, horticulture and agricultural engineering are held in different colleges.

The students are expected to pass the Joint Entrance Test that is conducted by the State Departments to qualify for the process of admission.
