Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology was established in the year 1962 and is sited in the Bhubaneswar city, Orissa.

History
Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology has come in to existence in 1962 as the successive Agricultural University by the Orissa Legislative Assembly Act.
As per the USAID program, this university developed connection with the University of Missouri as well as the Mississippi, to strengthen its research, teaching and extension programs. This university has farmers enrolled in a large number in different courses.

The university aims at providing quality education in technology and agricultural science, besides offering B Sc or M Sc in agriculture, B Sc in Forestry, B VSc & AH MV in Science, M Tech, B Tech or B Sc in Home Science, M F Science, B F Science, +2 Science, B Sc Hons, M Sc in Microbiology, M.C.A., M Sc with Bioinformatics and Ph D branches. The admission is given strictly on the merit basis.
This university has the generating as well as refining technologies facilitated for farmers. Their developing technology allows transferring models for the departments use in association with the developmental activities so that the farming community is benefited.
In addition, the program of Distance Education offers agricultural education facilities to the literate farmers, school dropouts, farm women and unemployed youth so that they are empowered for self-employment. There are Research Centers located at many places within Orissa.
