National Institute of Technology Jalandhar is the youngest amongst all the other eighteen NITs existing in the country. This institute is well known as the Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology. The Jalandhar institute was founded in 1987 as a Regional Engineering College. Later on, this institute was awarded the status of Deemed University in 2002 and also acquired the name National Institute of Technology.
National Institute of Technology Jalandhar is comprised of following departments such as Chemical & Bio Chemical, Bio Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, Leather Technology, Textile Technology, Applied Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Humanities & Management and Applied Physics.

The undergraduate courses offered in this institute include chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer science, communication engineering, electronics, instrumentation, production engineering, textile technology, mechanical engineering, and many more.
Post graduate courses offered include chemical engineering, control and instrumentation, mechanical engineering, and in fact all the courses of undergraduate has post graduate courses as well.
There are part time courses as well offered for computer science, textile technology, industrial engineering, communication engineering, material science and technology, and few more areas of engineering.
Doctorate courses are offered for engineering, humanities and science departments.
Admission Procedure
The admission is given to undergraduate candidates passing their AIEEE exams in merit. As this exam is conducted by the CBSE, these marks are considered to be the main for offering admission.
The post graduate candidates have to secure valid scores in GATE to assure admission and the Doctorate candidates have to qualify the GATE score of CSIR/UGC/NET qualification to make it eligible. |
