Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology is well-known as MPUAT as well. It is a state university and is located in Udaipur.
It was founded by the Rajasthan Government as a devoted university mainly for Agriculture as well as Technology in 1999.
It was given this name after the freedom fighter Maharana Pratap. This university enjoys command more than 11 districts of South as well as South east Rajasthan.
Maharana Pratap University was not the only university for agriculture as there were already established universities in Pantnagar and Bikaner.
However, Rajasthan was also a dominant and immense state with distinct agro climatic regions and hence it was essential to concentrate and tackle the arid agriculture as well as semiarid agriculture problems individually.
This was the significant reason that in 1999, the government felt the need of agricultural university and it emerged in Udaipur in the name of the great patriot, Maharana Pratap.
Features
Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology offers individual hostels to boys and girls. This university has placement as well as information bureau, student welfare office and of course, student counseling as well.
The other extra curricular activities include NSS, Moral Education, University Sport Board and NCC. The laboratories are modern and they have a well-equipped computer center featuring Linux server and internet connectivity.
The resource sharing facility is also arranged and the new students are made comfortable in the university by the student advisory system.
Educational Streams
Maharana Pratap University offers courses for undergraduate and post-graduate through affiliated colleges in Engineering & Technology, Dairy, Agriculture, Home and Food Science Technology, Fisheries, Forestry and Horticulture. Majority of the undergraduate courses were approved by AICTE, the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi.
The admission to the students is given after counseling and there are orientation programs organized to make the students conversant with the aspects of this educational institution and are given a clear picture of the infrastructure facilities obtainable. Aspiring candidates are also given opportunity to pursue their education through distance learning mode. |
