History
Sikkim University was founded in the year 2006 under the Sikkim University Act. In the year 2008, thus university began functioning. The university campus is expected to be constructed in South Sikkim district of Sikkim.
Educational Streams
This is a central University and has many plans in the aim of establishing three distinct, but interdisciplinary academic programs comprising of Traditional Programs, Non-traditional Programs as well as Policy Studies Programs.
Thus educational institution offers traditional courses in Life Sciences and Humanities in association with non-traditional courses that are unique as well as related to the state and include subjects such as ethnic history, border studies, mountain studies, hill music and culture. This university is working on the programs of Post Graduate and Research as well.
