Indian Institute of Technology Madras

Indian Institute of Technology Madras is a top technological institute in India.

This was founded in association with the technical assistance of Germany.

This institute was inaugurated in 1959 and this campus is spread over an extensive area covering 630 acres.

There are over 4500 students, 460 faculty and 1250 supporting and administrative staff.

IIT Madras has over 100 laboratories, 15 academic departments and few research centers catering various disciplines of pure sciences and engineering.

This institute is the finest engineering institutes and is regarded to be the pioneers of educational institutions. It has opened new opportunities as well as avenues and the students who have acquired education here have reached great heights.

This institute signed an agreement with the German government accepting to offer high standards of education facility in engineering and technical education. However, Professor Humayun Kabir, the then union minister for scientific research inaugurated this institute formally.

Recently, it is named as IIT Chennai in 1996 and has signed with many global institutions since its foundation. It has extended its wings in providing the right platform to its students in meeting the requirements of their global counterparts as well.

Courses
Indian institute of technology offers undergraduate courses in Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biotechnology Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Physics, Engineering and Computer Science.

The post graduate courses include the above courses and many more engineering courses such as Geotechnical, Transportation, Environmental, Hydraulic, Computational, Ocean, Precision, Advanced manufacturing and Machine design, machine dynamics, Thermal power, and the list goes on and on.

There are MBA and Doctorate courses as well. The Dual courses are also of immense use, but involve more commitment as it comprises of two courses at a stretch.

    Eligibility
  • 10 + 2 examination should have been cleared from some recognized board to acquire undergraduate course admission. However, they have to qualify JEE exam to seek admission.
  • Candidates must have B.Tech or BE degree from a recognized institution to qualify for post graduate admission. These candidates have to get GATE score in merit to seek admission.
  • Candidates having bachelor degree are considered eligible for MBA, but the written test, interview and group discussion are considered for admission.
  • Candidates with Masters Degree in Technology can seek admission for Doctorate, but entrance for Ph.D course has to be cleared.
    The Dual courses admission is also on the basis of JRR.

Facilities
The facilities offered include placements, bus transport, library, research center, post office, guest houses and hospital.
