A notable institution in this state is the Tripura University, which was established in the year 1947. This public university is affiliated with the University Grants Commission or UGC. Twenty-one colleges are also present in the area. Among them are the Tripura Institute of Technology, MBB College, Government College of Arts and Crafts, Belonia College, Kaji Nazrul Mahavidyalaya and Ramthakur College. The most popular college is the MBB College, which has been dubbed as the “Dream College” by many learners.
Also one of the universities in Tripura is the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India or ICFAI. Located at West Tripura, this university was built under the Tripura Act 2004 by the Legislative body of Tripura State. This institution has been wholly sponsored by an independent self-financing educational society in Tripura.
