Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University is the name acquired in 2002.
This was earlier the King George’s Medical College, the pioneer medical college in Lucknow, India.
This institution is assigned the job of disseminating enhanced knowledge in biomedical sciences. It establishes as an excellent centre for health care in the entire state.
Courses Offered
The course offered for undergraduates is MBBS (Bachelor of medicine and surgery). The post graduate diploma courses are many such as diploma in Orthopedics, Clinical Pathology, child health, ophthalmic medicine, anesthesiology, chest diseases, tuberculosis and public health.
Post Graduate courses of MD include Internal medicine, pediatrics, pharmacology, radiotherapy, forensic medicine, physiology, anesthesiology, microbiology, and many more. Similarly, MS also comprises of orthopedics, general surgery, ophthalmology and anatomy. DM and M Ch are also offered, besides doctorate courses.
Eligibility
The eligibility process for Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University for under graduates is the same such that the candidates must have cleared their higher secondary examinations with science subjects from a recognized board.
Candidates desiring for post graduate diploma courses must have MBBS degree from a recognized university in association with an internship of one year.
Candidates having BDS degree are eligible for MDS program. Superspecialty courses can be taken by candidates having MBBS degree with a Medical council of India or from a recognized university.
Candidates opting for Doctorate must possess a post graduate degree with 60% marks.
Admission Process
Admission for under graduates is on the basis of the combined Pre-Medical test held by Director Medical Education and seats are also given for candidates clearing the All India Medical Entrance Examination. The other backward classes and reserved seats are given as per government guidelines.
Post graduate admissions are given to candidates clearing the Medical entrance examination and All India post graduate medical entrance examination. However, admissions to superspecialty courses are given depending on the All India Competitive examinations held by the concerned department head.
