History
Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya was established in 1958 by in the name of Varanaseya Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya and this was renamed as Sampurnanand Sanskrit University in 1973 by the UP state government.
At that time, teaching of subjects such as Vedas, Ayurveda, Vedanta Purana, Sahitya, Theology, Astrology, Nyaya and Mimasa were also arranged. Sanskrit is viewed as the perfect languages in the world and this language has offered the freedom of truth to search uniqueness in mankind.
In reality, catholicity was shown to universal truth by Sanskrit only. This university helps in keeping intact the traditional scholarship and also assists to strike a balance between western and Indian outlooks and their research of study in the aspects of culture and literature.
Educational Streams
Sampurnanand Sanskrit University is dedicated as an international center and nurtures the Sanskrit literature besides the dignity of this literature. It conducts various curriculums in Pali, Sanskrit and Prakrit Languages.
This university publishes and has a collection of rare Sanskrit books. Pre-university courses are also held in the university such as Prathama, Purva Madhyama and Uttara Madhyama. The university also offers various other courses including degree, vocational, diploma courses, post graduation courses, MA and Med.
Facilities
Facilities of hostel is excellent in this university and there are other facilities such as health center, computer center, laboratory and library featuring over one lakh Sanskrit texts and manuscripts. There are enough facilities in the university for indoor and outdoor games as well.
