NIT (National Institute of Technology) is a pioneer engineering institutes in India.
This institute was earlier known by the name Regional Engineering College, and was founded in 1960 by a Parliament Act and is one among the eight colleges established.
This institute in 2002 was awarded the Deemed University status and was renamed to be NIT.
NIT is sprawled over an area of 187 acres. This institute offers M.C.A, B.Tech., M.Tech, M.B.A.and Ph.D. programs.
This institute offer programs in chemical engineering, computer science, biotechnology, civil engineering, information technology, metallurgical engineering, mechanical engineering and materials engineering. NIT institute was upgraded in the year 2007 as an institute of national importance.
Courses
NIT offers undergraduate courses in various engineering faculties covering majority of the disciplines.
Post graduate courses are as well available for all the engineering and technology fields.
MCA, MBA and doctorate courses are available as part or full time in various departments and under the strict supervision of faculty staff.
Eligibility
- The undergraduate courses consider aspirants of 10+2 passed out with subjects such as physics, mathematics, chemistry and English as eligible for seeking admission.
- Post Graduate courses are given admission to aspirants holding a B.Tech or B.E in respective branches of engineering.
- ME chemistry admission is given to applicants having an Msc in chemistry or B.Tech or B.E in chemistry.
- ME Mathematics aspirants must have passed MSc math at the graduate level and also should possess professional experience for two years.
- MCA applicant is expected to have a minimum score of 60% in the 12th examinations and Graduation completed with subjects mainly as statistics or mathematics or business mathematics. However, SC or ST candidates can have a relaxation of 5%.
- MBA applicant should have 50% marks in graduation from some repute Indian university.
Other Features
The other features include workshops, individual hostel facilities for girls and boys. E-library facilities are of paramount assistance to the staff as well as the students. The other facilities include cafeteria, computer laboratory, health care, e-mail connection, laboratories, and many more extra curricular activities.
